This TQUK Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid (RQF) is a nationally recognised and Ofqual-regulated qualification. It provides essential foundational first aid skills specifically focused on infants and children, making it a valuable introductory course for those working with or caring for young individuals. It is suitable for parents, nannies, au pairs, or those needing basic, life-saving paediatric first aid skills, and can form part of a blended learning approach to meet broader requirements. Course Length: This is a 1-day course, typically with a minimum of 6 contact hours. Main Topics: 1. Roles and Responsibilities of an Emergency Paediatric First Aider. 2. Assessing an Emergency Situation. 3. Managing an Unresponsive Infant or Child (Breathing Normally). 4. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Use. 5. Choking. 6. Wounds and Bleeding. 7. Shock. 8. Minor Injuries. 9. Seizures. This TQUK Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid (RQF) is a fully Ofqual-regulated qualification. While it covers essential paediatric first aid skills, it is important to note that this 6-hour course alone is generally not sufficient to meet the full paediatric first aid requirements for staff who are counted in adult-to-child ratios under the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Statutory Framework. The EYFS typically requires a more comprehensive 12-hour qualification (often the Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid RQF) or an equivalent blended learning approach. This course is highly valuable for building foundational skills and can contribute to a fuller qualification, or meet the needs of those not required to hold the full 12-hour certificate.
